Hollywood film premiere scaled down for Vegas shooting

US sci-fi pic ‘Blade Runner 2049’ has canceled the red carpet at its world premiere due to Las Vegas mass shooting.

The Tuesday night opening for the film at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre in the US took place without a red carpet, a media report said.

“In light of the tragic events of last night, Warner Bros. Pictures, Sony Pictures, and Alcon Entertainment are canceling the red carpet… of ‘Blade Runner 2049,” the film's domestic distributor Warner Bros. said in a statement on Monday, adding, “We join the rest of the country in sending heartfelt thoughts and prayers to all those affected by this tragedy.”

Scores of people have died and more than 500 were injured after a gunman opened fire in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

Referring to the tragic incident, producer of the flick, Andrew Kosove, said in the Tuesday premiere that “... this week once again we’ve been reminded how precious and fragile life is.”

'Blade Runner 2049' is the sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi classic 'Blade Runner.' The new version by Denis Villeneuve, stars Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford.
